Meet Rachel Alexandre

She is a therapist, school-based counselor, and storyteller who writes with a deep appreciation for ‘failures’ that are actually pivotal in a child’s growth. As someone who works closely with children and families, Rachel has witnessed how developmental journeys rarely follow a straight line. Every child grows at their own pace, discovering their voice, confidence, and sense of belonging in unique ways. Her work as a therapist allows her to listen carefully to both the spoken and unspoken experiences of children, and this sensitivity is reflected throughout her storytelling.

Her recent book, Step by Step, Word by Word: A Little Boy’s Journey into Language and Joy, is inspired by her son’s real-life journey through speech delay and toe-walking. Through beautiful poetry and heartfelt narrative, Rachel invites readers to see childhood development as a beautiful unfolding that takes time.

Today, Rachel continues to use her poetry to celebrate strength, identity, and belonging. Through her books, she hopes to offer comfort and encouragement to parents, educators, and children alike, reminding them that every journey, no matter how slow it may seem, is meaningful and worthy of hope.
